   Monday, June 02, 2003
there was a bird
flyin from somewhere else.
it flew with it's eyes on it's wings
(each eye a wing)
and it's heart strings,
tied in with its feathers.
it would land
to build a nest,
when it found a safe place
to uncoil in shelter.

It had been flying long
and needed a rest
but here
there was only
open fields of weeds
but it had to land
so it did, carefully.

it's eyelashes licked
it's wings clean,
in a patch of tall
weeds.
the heartstrings
relaxed their grab of feathers.
enough to spread and fan.

Bird lay in the shade,
and smelled the cool earth
tasting all its aromas
of the minerals mixed
with wild plants.

Bird slept, relaxed,
by the earth worms coiling movements
under the ground
under Bird's belly.
the worms songs rose up
through wrinkled ground.
long turning tunes
of dark tunnels
sung through chewing mouthes
of how the minerals taste
and change flovour
when surrounded by roots
of different flowers

Bird fell asleep
and into dreams...

Bird dreamptit was in a forest
with tall trees.
Their roots growing and turning
under the groung.
as the vibrations grew bigger
and produced deep humming sounds
Bird's eyelashes fluttered wildly,
at the tips of the wings,
at the pitch being so deep.
Heartstrings wove themselves
intricately through feathers
until Bird couldn't fly,
and fell to the ground.

the ground rolled
as the roots swelled
and pushed
to stretch
their new lenghtes.

Bird stiff-stiff-ly tried
to hold its eyes
cuped in its wing tips.
But being so shakey,
Bird put them in it's beak.
Carefully on it's sticky toungue.
Open beak a crack
so that
it could see.

The roots were beginning to BBbbUrst
through the crust
that held them under.

Bird, finding a steady place
on a big boulder,
looked up at the sky.
The canopy swirled
in an upward spiral,
in meditative patterns
Bird was able to relax,
and felt it's song rise up
as it's heart strings loosend.
Its eyes still in it's mouth,
Bird mimicked the song of the earthworms,
chewing their tunnels.

The Treees hearing this familiar song,
being tuned a different way,
slowed their growth,
to listen and place the unfamiliarity.
Tree's songs hummmmming deeeeeply
under Bird's ,
the two combined.

With this combination,
the Boulder, under which Bird sat,
awoke.
It did thisby lifting itself
out of its firm fix in the soil.

Bird was so transfixed
by it's partake in the Chorus.
when suddenly startled so
by the shift in centre,
Bird swallowed it's own eyes.

The sound of Bird gagging
caused the Boulder
to crack down its middle.

As Bird fell to the ground
it saw light
as it crept in
through it's open beak.
